Christuraja School had a modest beginning with student strength of just twenty three. Actually the history of the school dates back to 10 August, 1971 when the Lions Club of Kulasekaram, handed over the ownership and management of its ‘Lions Club Kinder Garten School’ to the Congregation of the Daughters of Mary.

The following year, the school was shifted to the premises of the Daughters of Mary Convent at Christurajapuram, North Street, Marthandam, Kanyakumari District, Tamil Nadu, India and was renamed Christuraja English Medium School.

Thereafter, the school slowly and steadily grew to a full grown Primary School in 1976 with effective pupil strength of 375. The academic year 1990-1991 marked the annual upgradatlon of an additional class to the Primary section. In the year 1994-1995 the school was recognised as a full-fledged Matriculation School by the Government of Tamilnadu. The following year witnessed the blossoming of this institution to the Higher Secondary Status.

The Christuraja Matriculation Higher Secondary School is now co-educational from L.K.G. to Std XII. Formerly the Higher Secondary courses catered only to girl students only, now it’s co-ed in all classes. The school maintains a high standard of discipline. The school strives to impart a qualitative education that would help the students to be good, noble, patriotic and useful citizens of our country. The phenomenal growth this institution had made over the years from a Primary School to a Higher Secondary Institution bears testimony to the vision, toil and dedication of the pioneers in particular and of all others who had served and are continuing to serve this school.

Today, Christuraja is a full fledged Higher Secondary School with all amenities and facilities. There are over 2000 students on its roll with more than 100 staff. It would not be presumptuous to state that it is one of the best institutions, if not the best. The Managers, Principals, Teachers and well-wishers have greatly contributed to the blossoming of this institution as an ideal centre for learning and development of wholesome personality.
